Last January 29, 2014 Wednesday, the Region XIII Regional Poverty Reduction Action Team together with Butuan City Local Poverty Reduction Action Team gathered together for the Butuan City Provincial Validation of LPRAP 2015 and Orientation of The Seal of Good Local Governance at Pietros Square, Butuan City.
Butuan City’s very own Mayor Hon. Ferdinand Amante was present during that gathering to show his full support to the team. Mayor Amante grabbed the opportunity to share his vision for the city which is to make the City as the first Forest City in the country. He shared his plans and urged everybody to be a part of a great transformation of Butuan; from a “Poorest City” to a “Forest City”.
After the Mayor’s speech, the team discussed the proposed LPRAP of Butuan City. During which, the city's projects for funding under the GPB 2015 were discussed for clarification, modification and even elimination or replacement. It was the an apt time to share the insights of everyone who are part of the planning process.
After the deliberation, the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) was discussed by DILG 13 Regional Director Lilibeth A. Famacion. She pointed out the core areas of this program that a municipality/city should prioritize in order to qualify for this award. After that, She turned over the Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH) to Mayor Amante for having complied with the criteria for the F.Y. 2012. This would be the last round of the SGH award, as henceforth the DILG will be implementing the SGLG.
The said gathering ended at 3:00 in the afternoon. (Eirene C. Mahusay, DILG XIII)
