February 10, 2014—the Local Poverty Reduction Action Project (LPRAP) of Agusan Del Norte was validated by the Regional Poverty Reduction Action Team (RPRAT) together with the Local Poverty Reduction Action Team (LPRAT) at the Capitol Provincial Training Center, Butuan City. During that day also, the Orientation for the Seal of Good Local Governance was conducted.
The Provincial Governor of Agusan Del Norte, Gov. Ma. Angelica Rosedell Amante Matba, was there to show her full support to the LPRAT and RPRAT. DILG Provincial Director Romeo Solis and DILG 13 Regional Director Lilibeth Famacion were also present during the said activity.
PD Solis gave his opening remarks which was followed by the message of Gov. Matba where she inspired and encouraged the team to take GPB seriously. After her message RD Famacion gave her message thanking everyone for their active participation and the presence of the Governor.
The formal deliberation of the LPRAP of Butuan City took place immediately after the message of RD Famacion. The GPB Regional Focal Person LGOO VI Jocelyn Jayoma gave the overview of the activity flow and discussed some important things to remember and comply upon the submission of the final LPRAP.
LGOO V Marilou Autor-Salado of the DILG Regional Office then ran through the projects submitted by the Province. Some participants asked questions and clarifications with regard to their projects and documents that were not complied. The interaction lasted for about two hours.
After the validation activity, Ms. Jayoma discussed the scaled up version of Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH) program which is the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLH). She enumerated the core and essential areas that must be given action and priority of every municipality and city in order to be an awardee of this program.
After the orientation, the SGH 2012 were awarded to all 11 municipalities including the province of Agusan Del Norte for they were able to pass the standards and qualifications. The Letter of SILG Mar Roxas for the 2012 SGH Passers together with PCF checks amounting one million and three million for municipalities and cities, respectively, were given to the Mayors by RD Famacion assisted by Gov. Matba and the PD Solis. The municipalities that got their checks include: Carmen, Jabonga, Kitcharao, Las Nieves, Magallanes, Nasipit, RTR, Santiago, and Tubay. Cabadbaran City, the sole component city of the province, also received their check. The Province, in turn, received theirs amounting to seven million. (Eirene C. Mahusay, DILG XIII)
