Pursuant to its performance oversight function, the Department of the Interior and Local Government will once again conduct the incentives, recognition and awards program for Local Government Units (LGUs) known as Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), with upgraded criteria for the 2016 round.A number of indicators in five out of six assessment areas, namely Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection, Business Friendliness and Competitiveness, Peace and Order, and Environmental Management have been upgraded. Financial Administration has two new indicators.

 

Data gathering will commence on February 29 and continue through to March 11. Regional validation is from March 7 to April 29 while the online data entry on the LGPMS Database is from March 14 to May 2. There will be a review, calibration and processing of results on May 23 to 28 at the regional level and June 13 to 24 at the national level. The national validation will be on the period of June 27 to August 5 while the selection and endorsement will be done by August. Finally, the announcement and conferment of passer LGUs will be on September of this year.

To orient the members of the Regional Assessment Teams (RATs) composed of DILG Local Government Operations Officers (LGOOs) and Civil Society Organization (CSO) representatives and prepare them for the assessment rounds, DILG Caraga conducted the “Regional Orientation Workshop on the 2016 LGPMS – SGLG - LGU Performance Scorecard” last February 26, 2016 in Balanghai Hotel, Butuan City.

 

During the activity, it was emphasized that the SGLG is the national government’s way of “PagkilalasaKatapatan at KahusayanngPamahalaangLokal.”
