The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 13 (Caraga) issued Memorandum dated September 20, 2016 Re: “3rd QUARTER NATIONWIDE SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL” enjoining all Local Government Units (LGUs) to participate in the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on September 28, 2016 (Wednesday) at 9:00 AM on said day.

            With the regional issuance, all Local Chief Executives (LCEs) are enjoined to participate in the said activity by conducting their respective earthquake drills and identifying evacuation sites. It also directed the LGUs that all information, education and communication activities related to the NSED shall be properly documented and submitted to DILG Regional Office through email address to be forwarded to DILG Central Office Disaster Information Coordinating Center (CODIX) for consolidation.

           The objectives of the NSED is to understand the command and control mechanisms in disaster management operations of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) members and to provide an opportunity for training in an actual disaster environment of all stakeholders identifying their specific roles and responsibilities on how to respond to the call of the situation.

           The Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) is pursuant to DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2016-128 dated September 19, 2016 signed by Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Ismael D. Sueno and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Memorandum No. 46, Series of 2016 dated August 31, 2016 signed by USEC Ricardo B. Jalad, Executive Director of NDRRMC.
