The Caraga Consortium on Good Governance (CCGG) is a consortium forged by the DILG Region XIII and its partner Local Resource Institutes (LRIs) for knowledge- sharing by promoting experimental learning of students and improving delivery of basic services of the local government units through research-based policy making. 

 

The CCGG was legitimized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) abd formally inked last October 24, 2016. The identified partners are: Father Saturnino Urios University (FSUU); Caraga State University (CSU); St. Joseph Institute of Technology (SJIT); Philippine Normal University- Agusan Sur Campus (PNU); Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT); St. Paul University- Surigao City Campus (SPU); Surigao State College of Technology (SSCT) and Surigao del Sur State Unioversity (SDSSU). 

The meeting which was held on March 28, 2017 at the DILG 13 Regional Office, tackled on the following concerns: ‘On-the-Job’ (OJT) placement particularly on the engineering students; organization of student volunteers on disaster preparedness; inventory of dissertations/ researches on local governance for compilation at the LGRRC; possible engagement of LRIs in the areas of documenting Best Practices on Local Governance in the region and the Local Economic Development training/ coaching to LGUs. The Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) program of the Dept. of Labor and Employment was also discussed during the meeting to encourage LRIs to enlist in the program so as to provide benefits to the students.

Among the agreements reached during the meeting are: DILG to conduct a training needs assessment (TNA) to LGUs to determine their training gaps and identify the number of OJTs needed; LRIs are willing to assist the DILG in the conduct of best practice documentation on local governance and in providing experts to be tapped as trainer/ coach in local development trainings; and copy of dissertations/ researches on local governance shall be provided to DILG upon receipt of formal communication.
