The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region XIII Caraga thru the Bureau of Local Government Development (BLGD) has successfully conducted the first ever Regional Workshop on the Localization of the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 Results Matrices and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Indicators in the country last August 13-15, 2018 at the Big Daddy Hotel and Convention, J.C. Aquino Avenue, Butuan City.

The workshop was attended by the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinators (PPDCs) of the five provinces in the region, the City Planning and Development Coordinators of the City of Butuan, select Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and observers from other DILG regional offices from Regions I to XII.

Mayor Ronnie Vicente C. Lagnada of Butuan City opened the three-day activity and beamingly clamored “our programs, being anchored to Ambisyon Natin 2040, is aiming to reach full development through engaging partners to work hand-in-hand with us…we should all be agents of the vision of the Philippines.”

The regional workshop sought to localize the provinces’ and their component municipalities’ development investment programs with the regional results matrices of the Caraga Regional Development Plan which is also anchored on the PDP and SDGs. To which DILG XIII Caraga Regional Director Lilibeth A. Famacion, CESO III expressed in gusto, “Based on the PDP…messages were focused in alleviating poverty and boosting development efforts for the people. PDP (and SDG) is a roadmap towards achieving the targets of Ambisyon 2040. This is the reason why the PDP (and SDG) must be localized. Only the projects that directly targets the PDP matrices (and SDG indicators) shall be approved. Thus, LGUs must be capacitated to plan out properly and produce well thought of LDIPs”.

Representatives from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Caraga and the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Caraga served as resource speakers and presented the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Indicators and Regional Development Plan (RDP) and its Results Matrices respectively. They also served as breakout session facilitators together with DILG Caraga.

At the end of the activity a commitment pledge was signed by the participants where they committed to localize the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) through underscoring its Results Matrices and Indicators and incorporate them in the formulation of Program, Projects and Activities (PPAs).
