BUTUAN CITY – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) CARAGA Region productively conducted the “Barangay Summit on Good Governance” in the region last November 29, 2018 at Dotties Place Hotel and Restaurant, Butuan City. A total of One Thousand Two Hundred Seventy (1,270) participants actively attended the summit out from the One Thousand Three Hundred Eleven (1,311) Punong Barangays invited.

The said summit is purposely conducted to boost awareness of the Punong Barangays especially the newly-elected ones about the current Administration’s campaign against illegal drugs, criminality, corruption, violent extremism and federalism. And also to further introduce the approaches to strengthen the bonds between the National Government and the Barangay in the pursuit of effective and efficient delivery of Public Services to its constituents.

 

During the event, the role of the Barangay in gaining good governance were defined as to their role on the Prevention of illegal Drugs, Campaign Against Criminality & Corruption and as to Prevention of Violent Extremism. Also in accordance to the pursuit for a federal government, the fundamentals of the said form were vividly discussed. Mr. Li Kuan Yew ones said, “A Nation is Great not by its size alone. It is the will, the cohesion, the stamina, the discipline of its people and the quality of their leaders which ensure it an honourable place in history”.
