The Department of the Interior and Local Government Agusan del Sur (DILG ADS) remains steadfast in its effort to assist its barangay communities in capability-building interventions. In collaboration with the Local Government of La Paz, DILG La Paz conducted Ugnayan sa Barangay and Barangay Development Plan (BDP) Enhancement Workshop on August 19-20, 2021 in Barangay Kasapa II, one of the forty-six (46) Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) FY 2022 beneficiary barangays of the province of Agusan del Sur.

The activity was facilitated by MLGOO Sherwin C. Obien and LGOO V Archie Rose G. Vasquez. It was participated by NCIP Acting CDO Gilchrist J. Gregorio, CMO NCO CDT Joel B. Tubali of 60IB, AFP, DILG Engineer II Joel B. Pedrozo, key personnel from the Municipal Engineering Office and Municipal Planning & Development Office, and the elated residents of Barangay Kasapa II led by Punong Barangay Dormito G. Manlangit.

The two-day DILG-led activity centered on amplifying the barangay’s development planning by bringing the community together to discuss relevant issues and concerns. It also aimed to determine the developmental gaps and formulate a BDP that translates into appropriate and responsive programs, projects, and activities intended to contribute towards the achievement of the barangay’s developmental goals and objectives.

“Let’s create a sustainable environment that our future generation will thank us for someday,” NCIP Acting CDO Gilchrist J. Gregorio said during the workshop. She also emphasized that the prospective projects and programs prioritized in the BDP will not just help the barangay, but the IP Community as well.

Punong Barangay Dormito Manlangit expressed his profound gratitude to the DILG and the government for the identification of their vulnerable barangay as a target beneficiary.

In our nation’s quest towards ending local communist armed conflict, Ugnayan sa Barangay is just the beginning of bringing sustainable solutions and interventions to communities in need. ###
